The story behind Butterfly.
It seems as though it was yesterday that my mother Martha Gail Willis passed away from lung cancer. I can still see the cold blank stare she displayed when the doctor told her, at 54 years old, there was nothing else they could do. It is a cold image that has been etched in my mind since that gloomy, fall day in 2014.
After she passed and the house was empty. I sat on the front stoop and began to write her a song that would keep her company on her way to heaven. I could not help but reminisce on all the wonderful qualities that had comforted me since I was a young boy. The song I wrote and played at her graveside was Butterfly. In Loving Memory of my mom.
